Signetics MC1496 balanced modulator-demodulator transistor array provides carrier suppression while passing sum and difference frequencies. Gain is set by value used for emitter degeneration resistor connected between pins 2 and 3. These devices were designed for use where the output voltage is a product of an input voltage (signal) and a switching function (carrier).Typical applications include suppressed carrier and amplitude modulation, synchronous detection, FM detection, phase detection,and chopper applications.
